About Medialogy: Roles and Responsibilities
The Library Media Specialist:In the book, Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs published by the American Assn. of School Librarians, it states that "the school library media specialist empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information" (AASL 5).
The roles and tasks of a School Library Media Specialist can vary as our schools and our society experience rapid changes in the formats and delivery of information with digital media. Some things, however, never change. Below is a list of common roles and responsibilities that are held and the larger areas they fall under. American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
